Earlier this year, Brigade Bookkeeping was honored as one of the “Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America” by Entrepreneur magazine’s Entrepreneur360™ List. The scorecard used by Entrepreneur measured five metrics reflecting major pillars of entrepreneurship—innovation, growth, leadership, impact and business valuation. We asked Elizabeth Manso, Founder and President, to provide insights on the company’s high standards in these areas and how they demonstrate them in all that they do.

Innovation: “We are bookkeepers and accountants, so innovation for us requires constant work and effort,” said Manso. “That said, we are always finding ways through app integrations, web-based programs and podcasts in order to stay in front of our ever-changing profession.”

Growth: “We have been creating an infrastructure which can sustain our 10%+ increase in client base growth per year, as well as a professional growth path for our team within our thriving organization.”

Leadership: Manso credited how closely the team works with their “culture coach,” Ianna Raim. “(We do this) to make sure that we’re investing in the cultivation of future leaders within Brigade. Everyone has the ability to become a leader within our small organization, and we want to be able to hone into our team’s inner talent.”

Impact: She noted that it’s all about meeting their main goal, every day, for each of their small business clients. “We do this by making sure their financial reports are organized, as well as coaching them on how to understand their numbers. Then they can make intelligent decisions based on them, just like I do with Brigade’s books.”

Business Valuation: To date, Brigade has 250+ clients and growing, and Manso remarked that, “We’ve created a well-oiled machine that’s sole purpose is to help local and national small businesses with the backbone of their business, so they can concentrate on growing their bottom line, and this, in turn, is helping to drive the value of Brigade upward and onward.”
