How the Heat Is Making Me A Single Mom

June, 14 2013

I love the Heat!  I hate the Heat!

I have a love/hate relationship with my favorite basketball team. Not only does their playing make me shake my head sometimes, but their quest for the championship is making me a single mom! Really, it is.

See, my husband is Will Manso. He’s a sports director for WPLG-TV, the ABC local news station. We have been together for more than 20 years (yes, we are high school sweethearts) and equally help in raising our daughter, Katelyn. But ever since the Heat started their run for the playoffs in April, my husband has been home one day, on the road the next.

I’m thrilled the Heat are now the Top of the East, but this single parenting just isn’t working for me. I am in awe of those moms and dads who raise their children on their own. But I can’t wait for the Heat to win four, so I can get my husband back this summer.

Thankfully, as the owner of DM Accounting, I can re-arrange my schedule to make sure I’m there for Katelyn and my clients. How many of you are in the same boat? Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with the Heat or some other sports team? I would love to hear from you.

In the meantime, I’ll keep watching the games and my husband on TV, while I wait for the Heat to take home the Championship. Let’s Go Heat!
