Benefits of Transformational Leadership

There may be something to that Bobby McFerrin song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” Remember it? The singer tells listeners that no matter what the problem, happiness is the solution. I wish it was that easy, but studies do show that people who are positive are not only happier overall, but perform at higher levels when it comes to their work.

I wish it was that easy, but studies do show that people who are positive are not only happier overall, but perform at higher levels when it comes to their work.

Last week, we talked about how great leaders who get things done and are passionate tend to earn respect from their employees. I want to get into that a little deeper because positivity from the top can also result in higher levels of employee performance and result in the growth of your business.

So today, we’re going to talk about the most effective leaders who possess Transformational Leadership. Transformational leaders are fixated on their followers and bettering their performance and lives. Here are the most common traits of a transformational leader:

  • INFLUENCER – A transformational leader is always a role model. Followers or employees admire this person because they not only talk the talk, but they walk it as well. Some examples include Former First Lady Michelle Obama and Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates.
  • MOTIVATOR – Transformational leaders are always able to inspire and motivate others. Together with the influence he or she wields on others, a transformational leader must have this trait.
  • CONSIDERATE – The best leaders are those who have compassion and empathy towards others. Transformational leaders are considerate and listen to their employees and others concerns.
  • STIMULATE – A transformational leader is great at challenging his or her team to think outside of the box. He or she encourages creativity and innovation.

Research shows that businesses or groups led by transformational leaders are reported to be happier workplaces, with greater performance levels.
