Attention Small Business Owners: Don’t Procrastinate Pay Your Taxes Now

February, 1 2015

Why is it that the news always has a reporter standing by the mailbox on April 15th, interviewing last minute taxpayers? Why is it that most Americans wait until the March 16th corporate deadline to file their business taxes? Why is it that people procrastinate? If I could answer that, then I could probably choose the winning lotto numbers. Since that’s not going to happen, my guess is that people procrastinate on their taxes because they don’t like doing them.

I, for one, love bookkeeping; I love numbers and I love assisting my clients with preparing for their taxes. So when it comes time for the March 16th corporate tax filing date this year, I am happy to say, that most of my clients are already well on their way to filing. I like to keep my clients organized throughout the year, so that when January 1st rolls around, all we have to do is gather the work we’ve prepped for all year long.

I am now getting calls from panicked business owners who initially reached out to me late last year to inquire about bookkeeping help. Now, up against a pending deadline, they wish to book Brigade Bookkeeping’s services. It’s not too late! I will help them out, but meeting deadlines early and keeping your books up to date year round will make filing your taxes way easier.

So to keep you organized, I thought I would share these important business, corporate and individual tax deadlines from the IRS. If you’re a small business owner, some of these dates are crucial to your livelihood, so keep track of them. If you feel overwhelmed while reading through them, feel free to call or email me anytime for help.

Remember, don’t procrastinate, get your taxes done now!
