4 Year End Tasks to Start 2015 Off RightTwas the night before Christmas and all through the Brigade Bookkeeping house, many creatures were calculating by using their mouse.

Okay, so I’m not a poet, but I’m really in the spirit this Christmas and I hope you are too! With less than a week left until Christmas and under two weeks until the New Year, we wanted to share the last minute year end tasks on our holiday to do list.

4 Year End Tasks to Start 2015 Off Right:

  1. End of Year Donations – While you’re finishing up your last minute Christmas shopping, remember now is the time to make those end of the year donations. Charitable giving is a hallmark of the holidays, so consider giving to your favorite charity. Remember to save your receipts, so your bookkeeper can write it off on your 2014 taxes.
  2. End of Year Bookkeeping – I have a new client who just brought me on two weeks ago to do his bookkeeping for the entire year. Guess what? We did it and now he knows exactly how much he made this past year, his bank statements are reconciled and he’s ready for tax time next year. If you haven’t done this for your books, now is this time!
  3. End of Year Planning – Speaking of year end, now is the time to start planning for 2015. Set an appointment up now with your bookkeeper or tax professional to plan for your 2015 bookkeeping and 2014 taxes.
  4. Most Importantly: Enjoy Your Friends and Family! – The holidays are a time to wind down and enjoy your family and friends. This is what I hope to be doing the rest of the year, but don’t hesitate to e-mail or call me if you need any bookkeeping advice.

So happy holidays everyone! Enjoy this special time of year.
